Lately I've been in need of a rut-buster. I'm projecting in the 5.11 range and seem to have hit a plateau. I've also entered a weird head space of getting freaked out on lead, which has never been an issue for me before. Anyway, I'm switching it up, working on technique, endurance, and strength to build confidence and skill as a climber and to enter the outdoor season with refreshed confidence and capability.
This was my workout today at my local climbing gym. I definitely prefer the ropes but bouldering certainly has its place. This is one example of a strength endurance session. Of course this is going to vary depending on how many problems your gym has set
and your ability level but you can recreate something like this at any gym- stick with routes that you would be able to flash when fresh, break it up every 5-10 problems with about 2mins of core, and just keep moving! This took me just short of an hour. Give it a go, have fun!!
